Miqat finder
Find the Miqat on your route and when to be ready in ihram.

Why a miqat finder helps
Pilgrims intending Umrah or Hajj must be in ihram before crossing the Miqat. On a plane this can happen high above the desert, often 20 to 40 minutes before landing in Jeddah, so knowing your Miqat in advance means you can shower, change and be ready calmly.
The Prophet ﷺ set five Miqat points for those coming from different directions, as reported by Ibn ‘Abbas in al-Bukhari and Muslim. Our miqat finder matches common routes to these points.
The five Miqat points
| Miqat | Location | Usually for |
|---|---|---|
| Dhul Hulayfah (Abyar Ali) | About 420 km north of Makkah, near Madinah | Travellers from Madinah |
| Al-Juhfah (Rabigh) | About 180 km north-west | Flights from Europe, Africa and the Americas |
| Qarn al-Manazil (as-Sayl al-Kabir) | About 75–80 km east | Riyadh, Najd and the Gulf |
| Yalamlam (as-Sa‘diyyah) | About 100 km south | Yemen and many flights from South and East Asia |
| Dhat ‘Irq | About 100 km north-east | Iraq and the north-east |
Using the miqat finder on a flight
Change into ihram at home, at the airport or on board before the Miqat. Make your intention — Labbayk Allahumma ‘umrah — when the crew announce the Miqat, then begin the Talbiyah.
Here I am, O Allah, here I am. Here I am, You have no partner, here I am. All praise, blessings and sovereignty belong to You. You have no partner.

Open the miqat finder page on your phone before you leave home and add it to your home screen. That way it opens instantly in Makkah or Madinah, even when the mobile signal inside the Haram is weak. All our tools are designed for one-handed use, with large buttons and high-contrast text that stays readable in bright sunlight.
If you are travelling with parents or children, share the link with them too. Families often find it helpful when everyone is looking at the same plan, checklist or dua on their own device, especially when you are separated in the crowds and meet again at a fixed point after prayer.
Privacy and accuracy
The miqat finder runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you enter is sent to us unless you choose to submit a quote request. The religious content is drawn from the Qur’an and well-known hadith collections, and where scholars differ we say so. Rules for visas and permits change, so always confirm the latest details on official platforms such as Nusuk.
Who the miqat finder is for
We built the miqat finder for first-time pilgrims who want reassurance, for experienced pilgrims helping parents or friends, and for group leaders who need a quick reference to share. It is equally useful at home while you prepare and on the road when a question comes up and there is no time to search through long articles.
If something on this page does not match your situation — for example a medical condition, a disability or travel with young children — tell us about it in your quote request. Our advisers will take it into account, and for religious questions we always recommend asking a qualified scholar you trust.

What if my flight does not announce the Miqat?
Enter ihram well before landing — for example 45–60 minutes before arrival — to be safe.
Is Jeddah a Miqat?
Jeddah lies inside the Miqat boundary. Residents of Jeddah enter ihram from where they are; travellers flying in for Umrah should be in ihram before the Miqat.
Can I enter ihram at home?
Yes. You may wear the ihram garments at home and make the intention at or before the Miqat.
