Ramadan Umrah is the journey many Muslims hope to make at least once in their lives. Fasting by day beside the Kaaba, breaking your fast in the courtyard of Masjid al-Haram and standing in taraweeh with a million worshippers is an experience unlike any other, and it rewards careful, early planning.

This page explains the expected dates for 2027, how the last ten nights shape every booking, and the practical choices that make a Ramadan trip calmer. When you are ready, our team can prepare a tailored proposal with no obligation.
When is Ramadan Umrah 2027?
Ramadan 1448 AH is expected to begin on or around 8 February 2027. The exact start is confirmed by the sighting of the crescent moon, so it may move by a day. If the month runs for 29 or 30 days, Eid al-Fitr would fall around 9 or 10 March 2027.
That places the last ten nights at roughly the end of February and the first week of March 2027. Because Islamic dates follow the lunar calendar, Ramadan moves about eleven days earlier each year, so these dates will be different for 2028.

Why Ramadan Umrah is so special
The Prophet ﷺ said that Umrah performed in Ramadan is equal in reward to Hajj, a narration recorded in the collections of al-Bukhari and Muslim. Scholars explain that this refers to the reward and does not replace the obligation of Hajj for those who are able to perform it.
Beyond the reward, Ramadan Umrah lets you combine the rites with fasting, Qur’an recitation and night prayer in the holiest places on earth. Many pilgrims describe the shared iftar, with strangers passing dates and Zamzam to one another, as one of their most treasured memories.
The last ten nights of Ramadan
The final ten nights are the heart of the month. The Prophet ﷺ encouraged seeking Laylat al-Qadr, the Night of Decree, in the odd nights of the last ten, and the Qur’an describes it as better than a thousand months (Surah al-Qadr, 97:3).
This is why demand for Ramadan Umrah is at its highest from the 20th night onward. Hotels closest to the Haram are often fully booked months in advance, prayer halls fill hours before isha, and the roof and surrounding courtyards are used for the night prayers.
Planning around the odd nights
If you can only make Ramadan Umrah for part of the month, consider arriving a day or two before the 21st night and staying until close to Eid. If your time is limited, even a few of the last ten nights can be deeply rewarding. Our Umrah trip planner helps you map out the nights in each city before you send us your request.
Quieter than the end of the month, with more hotel choice near the Haram and easier tawaf. A good option for families and elderly pilgrims who want the Ramadan atmosphere with fewer crowds.
A balanced choice. You can perform Umrah early in the stay, spend time in Madinah and then return to Makkah as crowds begin to build.
The busiest and most sought-after period. Book as early as possible, choose a hotel within walking distance and plan your rest carefully around the night prayers.
Why book Ramadan Umrah early
Every year, the hotels closest to Masjid al-Haram are the first to fill for Ramadan Umrah, followed by direct flights from major cities. Booking early gives you a real choice instead of whatever is left.
Hotels near the Haram
A short walk matters more in Ramadan than at any other time, especially for taraweeh and tahajjud in the last ten nights.
Better flight options
Direct flights and convenient arrival times sell out quickly around the start of Ramadan and the last ten nights.
Room flexibility
Families and groups have a better chance of connecting rooms, triples and quads when they book ahead.
Madinah availability
Hotels near Masjid an-Nabawi also fill in Ramadan, particularly around the start of the month and before Eid.
Rawdah permits
Time to set up the Nusuk app and look for Rawdah slots in Madinah before you travel.
Calmer preparation
Visas, vaccinations and packing are far less stressful when they are not left to the final weeks.

Practical tips for Ramadan Umrah
Fasting in a crowded city takes planning, and a successful Ramadan Umrah depends on small daily choices. These tips come from pilgrims and advisers who have made the journey many times.
- Perform Umrah at a quieter time. Many pilgrims complete their tawaf and sa’i after suhoor or in the late morning, when the mataf is often less crowded than after taraweeh.
- Rest during the day. Night prayers in the last ten nights are long, so sleep after dhuhr if you can.
- Stay hydrated at suhoor and iftar. Zamzam is available throughout the Haram, and dates and water are shared at iftar.
- Arrive early for prayers. Gates can close when the masjid is full, so leave your hotel well before the adhan.
- Keep your belongings simple. A small bag, a prayer mat and your phone with our Umrah duas saved offline are all you need.
Ramadan Umrah from your country
Ramadan Umrah is popular from every corner of the Muslim world, which is why flights fill so quickly. From the UK, Europe and North America, school terms usually continue through February and March, so many families travel for a shorter stay or choose the first half of the month. Read our pages for Umrah from the UK and Umrah from the USA for airport and timing advice.
From Pakistan, India and the Gulf, demand peaks for the last ten nights, and many pilgrims travelling from the UAE and Saudi Arabia choose to go by road or train. Wherever you start, share your departure city and we will build your Ramadan Umrah around the best available routes.
Ramadan Umrah with Madinah
Most Ramadan Umrah itineraries include time in Madinah. Some pilgrims spend the first part of the month near Masjid an-Nabawi and move to Makkah for the last ten nights, while others perform Umrah first and finish with Eid in Madinah. Our Madinah ziyarat guide covers the places to visit in the city.
Travelling between the cities by the Haramain high-speed train is quick and comfortable, but seats sell out around the start of Ramadan and before Eid, so we include it in your proposal when we can. Rawdah visits are booked through the official Nusuk platform, and slots in Ramadan can be limited.
Before you fly, read our step-by-step guide on how to perform Umrah and check the Miqat finder for your route, as you may need to enter ihram on the plane.
