Hajj 2027, the Hajj of 1448 AH, is expected to take place from around 14 to 19 May 2027, with the Day of Arafah expected on or around 15 May and Eid al-Adha on or around 16 May. Exact dates depend on the sighting of the moon at the start of Dhul Hijjah, but there is already plenty you can do to prepare.

This guide brings together the expected dates, how registration usually works, the health requirements to check and a practical timeline from twelve months out to the day you depart.

Health requirements for Hajj 2027
Saudi Arabia sets health requirements for pilgrims each year, and these must be met to receive a Hajj visa. The meningococcal meningitis vaccination (ACWY) is required for Hajj, and you will usually need a certificate showing it was given within the valid period before arrival.
Other vaccinations may be required or recommended depending on your country, such as seasonal influenza or polio for pilgrims from certain regions. Always check the current requirements published by the Saudi Ministry of Health and speak to your doctor or a travel clinic in good time.
Preparing for heat in May
Hajj 2027 falls in mid-May, when daytime temperatures in Makkah and Mina are very high. Plan to drink water regularly, use an umbrella for shade, rest in the heat of the day where possible and follow the guidance of your group leaders. Pilgrims with long-term health conditions should discuss the trip with their doctor before booking.

Many pilgrims from abroad perform Hajj al-Tamattu’, beginning with an Umrah on arrival. Our guide on how to perform Umrah walks you through that first Umrah in detail.
Packing for Hajj 2027
Packing light makes the days of Hajj easier, because you will move between Makkah, Mina, Arafat and Muzdalifah with only a small bag. Focus on the essentials and leave everything else at your hotel.
- Ihram garments: at least two sets for men, and comfortable, modest clothing for women.
- Footwear: sandals that are already broken in, plus a spare pair.
- Shade and hydration: a light umbrella, a refillable bottle and a small cooling spray.
- Health items: your regular medicines with prescriptions, plasters, unscented sunscreen and rehydration salts.
- Documents: passport, visa, vaccination certificate, Hajj ID card and a printed copy of your group’s contact details.
Our interactive checklist is a useful starting point, and your Hajj provider will usually share its own list before departure.
Visiting Madinah during Hajj 2027
Many Hajj 2027 packages include several nights in Madinah, either before the days of Hajj or after Eid. Visiting Masjid an-Nabawi is not part of the rites of Hajj, but it is a deeply loved part of the journey. Our Madinah ziyarat guide explains the sites to visit.
If you cannot go in Hajj 2027
Places are limited, and not everyone who registers for Hajj 2027 will secure one. If that happens, keep preparing and try again in a later season. In the meantime, an Umrah trip outside the Hajj period is a wonderful way to visit the Haram, and the knowledge you have gained will serve you well when your time for Hajj comes.
